Christine Sealing

I began my tertiary education at the Community College of Baltimore County, and soon found my way to South Australia on a study abroad program. Whilst wandering around the city of Adelaide, I picked up a book on the discount shelf at the local pharmacy. It was about the science of volcano monitoring, hazard mitigation, and the formation of the USGS Volcano Disaster Assistance Program. This was Earth science in the service of others – I was hooked. I finished a BSc in Geology & Geophysics at the University of Adelaide in 2006, and worked in the nascent Australian geothermal industry before heading to the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory for my first job on an active volcano! It was here that I became interested in volcano gas remote sensing. In 2013, I completed a MSc in Geology at Michigan Tech and Université Blaise Pascal, France. After working at the Earth Observatory of Singapore, I decided to return to the US East Coast and pursue a PhD at Drexel University. I fell in love with SE Asia, and hope to work there again upon completion of my degree.
